5 Tips for Packing Light(But Still Being Ready for Anything on Tour)

ree

Packing for Baja is a little different than packing for a regular vacation. Between the riding, the desert dust, and the casual vibe in every town we stop in, less really is more. Here are our best tips for traveling light while still being ready for everything our tours throw at you:

1. Don’t forget the essentials.

You’ll need a valid passport, personal spending money, and cash for your damage deposit ($500 for buggies or $300 for bikes). ATMs are scarce and many places don’t accept cards, so it’s always best to carry cash.

2. Keep your clothes casual and sturdy.

T-shirts, pullovers, jeans, and shorts will get you through just about anywhere in Baja. Pair them with sturdy shoes (running or hiking) that can handle long days. No need for dress clothes — casual is the norm everywhere we go.

3. Bring old clothes for riding days.

Here’s a pro tip: pack older clothes you were already planning to toss. Riding days can get dusty, muddy, and sweaty, and laundry isn’t available on tour. Many of our riders simply wear clothes one last time on the trail and discard them responsibly afterward, leaving with a lighter bag and no laundry to worry about.

4. Pack for comfort on the ride.

Moto riders should bring a CamelBak or hydration pack. Staying hydrated in the desert is non-negotiable. A lightweight pullover or windbreaker also goes a long way for early mornings and evening rides.

5. Think light and leave room.

Only pack what you know you’ll use, and leave space in your bag. That way you’ll have room for souvenirs, snacks, or even that Baja t-shirt you’ll inevitably want to bring home.

Packing smart means less weight to haul around, more space for adventure, and zero stress about missing the essentials. Trust us, the lighter you pack, the freer you’ll feel when the desert trail opens up in front of you.
